Our History
The term “Reckons,” ingeniously coined by Dr. Franklin Enemuo, embodies an ardent aspiration to carve out a distinctive identity for Reckons International Schools (RIS) as an institution of profound distinction.
Originally named Reckons Academy on August 10, 2007, the school underwent a transformative name change, emerging as Reckons International Schools. The official unveiling to the public occurred in September 2007 with an enrollment of 44 eager pupils.
In its modest beginning, RIS faced formidable challenges, navigating through limited financial resources, staffing issues, and the intricacies associated with rented facilities. Despite these obstacles, the school, propelled by unwavering determination, meticulous efforts, and inspired teaching, not only overcame adversities but also charted a course to triumph.
The institution’s prominence soared as its students, albeit in limited numbers, consistently outshone their peers in other schools, establishing an illustrious reputation for excellence that fueled its growth. Today, the school stands as a success, with an expanded student body and a permanent, aesthetically pleasing learning environment located in the heart of the capital at 45, Konshisha Street, beside NKST Low-Level Makurdi, Benue State, Nigeria.
Dr. (Mrs) Gloria Ekwy Enemuo (of blessed memory), the venerable founder of the school, was not merely a disciplinarian but also a fervent educator. Her infectious zeal for education led her to attain Ph.D. qualifications in Education; Administration and Planning; Guidance and Counselling. Her unwavering commitment extended to continuous training and active participation in conferences.
Following her passing, a seamless transition unfolded as her children assumed leadership roles, passionately dedicated to preserving and advancing the educational legacy. Dr. Franklin Enemuo, the current Chairman/CEO, stands as a success-driven individual, fervently devoted to upholding and enhancing the enduring legacy of Reckons International Schools.
